BESS Aomori, Hashikami

Description

Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) technology project, located in Hashikami City, Aomori Prefecture, in the north of the country. It consists of a storage facility with a total capacity of 40 MW. It is located on a site with a terrain favourable to this type of installation, in the vicinity of the substation. Aomori Prefecture is a suitable region for wind power generation and many wind turbines have been installed. However, as wind power generation is affected by weather conditions, the amount of electricity generated can be unstable, so the construction of storage stations allows surplus electricity to be stored and supplied in times of shortage, thus promoting the efficient use of renewable energy.
